Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes the dangers of excluding Ukraine from U.S.-Russia negotiations concerning the ongoing conflict, advocating for direct involvement to ensure a comprehensive and just resolution.
In a recent interview, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed significant concerns over the potential exclusion of Ukraine from discussions between the United States and Russia regarding the ongoing war. He labeled such an exclusion as “very dangerous,” emphasizing that any negotiations about Ukraine’s future must involve direct participation from Kyiv.
Zelenskyy highlighted the necessity for more direct communication between Ukraine and the United States, stressing that decisions made without Ukrainian involvement could lead to unfavorable outcomes and undermine the nation’s sovereignty. He urged U.S. President Donald Trump to leverage sanctions against Russia and continue supporting Ukraine’s military efforts to facilitate meaningful negotiations.
The Ukrainian leader also pointed out that Russia currently holds a battlefield advantage and has shown reluctance to discuss a ceasefire or make concessions. He advocated for the inclusion of both Ukraine and the European Union in any talks to prevent Russia from controlling the narrative and outcomes of the negotiations.
Furthermore, Zelenskyy reiterated his stance on Ukraine’s NATO membership, viewing it as a critical security measure. He also addressed a French proposal to deploy European forces in Ukraine, expressing concerns about potential complications and the effectiveness of such a move.
In his appeal, Zelenskyy invited U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to visit Ukraine to witness firsthand the impact of the war, aiming to foster a deeper understanding and strengthen bilateral support.
As the conflict continues, Zelenskyy’s statements underscore the importance he places on Ukraine’s active involvement in any diplomatic efforts to resolve the war, ensuring that the nation’s interests and sovereignty are upheld in the face of ongoing aggression.
